Sandi DuBowski, the filmmaker behind one of the documentary community’s most influential films, TREMBLING BEFORE G-D, is at it again.  This time, he has spent 13 years following Amichai Lau-Lavie through his dramatic life and the journey of finding his identity within the Jewish faith.  Amichai is truly a 21st century rabbi, descended from 39 generations of rabbis, saying back to King David and including the Chief Rabbis of Israel. Rabbi Amichai founded Lab/Shul, which is part laboratory, part synagogue – an everybody-friendly, God-optional, artist-driven, pop-up congregation.  Amichai is gay, countercultural and an activist, trickster and seeker. He shows how religion, when radically reinvented for the modern world, can be a powerful force for human rights and global dignity.
